FAQ
1. How is this SQE Mock Exam different from others?
Having reviewed a range of SQE1 practice questions and mock exams, I noticed two extremes. Some questions are relatively short and straightforward, which may create a false sense of security, while others are unnecessarily lengthy, with factual detail that does not necessarily make the question more realistic or useful.
I take a more focused approach. My SQE1 MCQs are designed by reference to the style, length and difficulty of the SRA’s publicly available SQE1 sample questions. They aim to be challenging for the right reasons: requiring you to identify legally significant facts, distinguish between plausible answers and apply the law accurately.
I apply the same principle to the answer explanations. Each explanation is focused, clear and to the point, explaining why the correct answer is right and why the other options are wrong, without unnecessary detail.
The aim is to provide realistic, focused and valuable practice that helps you prepare effectively for the actual SQE1 assessment.
2. What are the features of this SQE Mock Exam?
Format: Each mock exam session contains 85 MCQs, reflecting the updated SQE1 assessment format from January 2027.
Timing: Each 85-question session is timed at 153 minutes, reflecting the time allowed for each session of the SQE1 assessment.
Detailed Performance Breakdown: After completing the mock, you will immediately receive your overall score as well as a topic-by-topic breakdown showing the percentage of questions answered correctly in each subject. For example, you might score 60% in Tort Law and 50% in Contract Law, helping you identify your stronger areas and the subjects that may require further revision.
Answers and Focused Explanations: After completing the mock, you will see the correct answer together with a clear, focused explanation of why it is correct and why the other options are incorrect.

5. What should I prepare before taking the SQE Mock Exam?
Before starting the mock exam, you may want to have an online calculator, pen, paper, tissue and a bottle of water ready. (In the actual exam, these items, except water, will be provided.)
6. What is the recommended time starting the SQE Mock Exam?
You may start the mock exam at any time.
To replicate real SQE exam conditions as closely as possible, we recommend beginning the mock exam at the same time as the actual assessment sessions — for example, 9:00 a.m. for the morning session and 2:00 p.m. for the afternoon session.
Ideally, you should complete two mock exams on the same day to simulate the stamina and concentration required for the real SQE1 assessment.
7. How much time should I set aside for completing the SQE Mock Exam?
We recommend setting aside 153 minutes of uninterrupted time so that you can experience realistic exam conditions and time pressure. The exam session will automatically end 153 minutes after you begin.
8. Can I pause the SQE Mock Exam and resume it later?
Yes. We understand that when you are taking the Mock Exam at home, unexpected interruptions may occur. You can pause the exam at any time, and the timer will stop, so no time will be deducted from your allocated 153 minutes.
However, to gain the greatest benefit and simulate the real SQE1 exam experience as closely as possible, we strongly recommend completing the Mock Exam in one uninterrupted sitting within the 153-minute time limit whenever circumstances allow.
9. Can I go to the washroom during the actual SQE exam?
Yes. However, the 153-minute time limit will continue running during your break.
To replicate real exam conditions as closely as possible, you should also avoid pausing the clock during the Mock Exam when going to the washroom.
10. If I pass the Mock Exam, am I guaranteed to pass the SQE?
A passing score on our SQE Mock Exam is a strong indicator that you are on the right track. However, the SQE is a rigorous assessment where “exam-day readiness”, such as mental clarity, physical health, and even factors like hydration and sleep quality on the day of the exam, plays a crucial role. To ensure you are fully prepared for every aspect of the test, check out the strategies in our Blog.
